A broken electric gate is a pain. The car's left on the road, the gate's stuck open all night, or it opens halfway and stops. Whatever yours is doing, I'll come out, find the fault and fix it.

The faults I fix
- Gate won't open – nothing happens when you press the remote, keypad or intercom. See electric gate won't open.

How a repair works
- Tell me what's wrong. Call, text or WhatsApp. A short video of the gate trying to move tells me a lot.
- I find the fault. On site, with proper test kit, looking for the cause rather than the symptom.
- You get the price first. Before any work starts.
- I fix it and test it. Safety devices checked and the gate run through a full cycle before I leave.
I carry the common parts in the van – photocells, remotes, capacitors, fuses and batteries – so many repairs are finished on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, I'll tell you how long it'll take and leave the gate safe in the meantime.

Gates out here have it tough. Long farm lanes mean long cable runs, the drumlins give us sloping drives, and the Blackwater valley brings damp and the odd flood. I know what that does to motors and control boards, and which replacement parts last.
Repair or replace?

Safe as well as working
A repaired gate has to be safe, not just moving. After every repair I check the photocells, safety edges and the manual release, and I won't leave a gate running if its safety devices don't work. If yours has none at all, I'll explain what's needed.
Before you call
You can safely check a few things yourself: the power, dirty photocells and flat remote batteries. My electric gate troubleshooting guides walk you through them. Please don't open the control box or bypass a safety device – that's a job for an engineer.
After the repair
